Sketch3D v1 - In Use #2
Friday March 20, 2009
The hardware that o2 developed for Sketch 3D is based around a Pico-ITX Single Board Computer (SBC) that is powered by an Intel Atom processor. Sensor input is handled outside of the SBC by a custom sensor to serial (TTL) circuit based on an Atmel ATMega328 micro-controller that provides information about the status of the device's three rotary encoders and three-axis accelerometer for a total of six analog inputs. In addition to these two central components, Sketch 3D also uses a SATA to Compact Flash (CF) converter board to allow for the use of low-weight CF media and an LCD inverter / backlight board that provides both power and VGA signal to the device's TFT LCD Display. A single multi-output regulated +12vdc power supply provides power to the SBC, Sensor Board and Display.
